What a way to wrap up this amazing summer ~ My first sunflowers bloomed and were shining their brightest around these few weeks when I felt like such a busy bee!
After my sister’s baby shower I had to get my preparation gear into high speed because Burning Man was right around the corner.
Now, I know Burning Man officials provide us with a slew of info like the survival guide and frequent updates from Jack Rabbit Speaks – but I knew there was more to it and I thought a little bit outside of the box…
The week before our trip to Black Rock City I did a fully raw cleanse! For a couple days I paired cold pressed, organic juices + raw entree’s then followed by doing a couple days only having juice. I led myself out of the cleanse by doing the same thing as I did before the couple days of straight juice (ex: fruit juice in the AM, then a tonic, followed by green juices, a raw soup and then a salad or smoothie) that way I nurtured my body through the process and didn’t rush back into having cooked/processed foods. I am pretty fortunate to be working at one of the best places in New York City to get all of this nutritious deliciousness from – Organic Avenue! So between OA and Juice Press that has a location in Brooklyn close to my home, I was set and ready to go.
I paired this raw cleanse with enemas at home and look forward to trying a colonic next time so I can really detox to the best of my ability.
The idea of doing this raw cleanse before Burning Man was so that my immune system was prepared for anything and I was as radiant and vibrant as I could be – Bring it on playa!
and because I’m sure you’re now wondering how it went – it was the best decision ever… it worked like a charm 🙂
Another way I prepared for our travels was by creating a crystal grid that set very solid intentions for our journey. I chose tons of grounding crystals and the beautiful pyrite that Kevin picked up last holiday season. It was super powerful and I was able to call forth that energy whenever I felt I needed it. When this grid was created, it was a time for me to recollect myself energetically and emotionally for one of the greatest journeys – physical prep is only half the battle!
++If you could imagine, the healer in me had to prepare a first aid kit! I had tons of goodies like crystals, certified pure therapeutic grade essential oils (see my Gift of the Earth page to see how you can bring some into your home!), band aids and the such. My favorite lady Kacey dubbed my playa name as Pockets because I’m always prepared… this kit definitely came in handy too!
Feel free to contact me if you ever need recommendations on what oils or crystals you should bring with you for outings. I’d also be very happy to share a more detailed list of what I brought if requested.
Some of my favorites on the road ended up being Frankincense, DigestZen, Peppermint, Oregano and On Guard. Crystal wise, having my aquamarine and moldavite was magical!
and then just like that – we were embarking on our journey as we all sat aboard the neon lit Virgin America flight. The rest… well.. what happens at Burning Man stays on the playa 😉
kidding! This trip, and being at Burning Man was nothing short of extraordinary – it humbled me to see the good in people that I knew existed within my heart revealed in EVERYONE! I met so many brilliant, energetic stargazers who all made the sleepless and very long travel cross country worth every moment (and penny). Everyone was so giving and I’m forever grateful that we were so supported.
The desert, or at least the playa, reflects the spirit and if I were to speak for my tribe – it truly mirrored all of the wondrous attributes about us as individuals.. there were some cathartic moments (like when I first arrived at the temple) bizzare times and many joyously free flowing memories to be had. This truly is a place you can be exactly who you are without judgement – you can do what you want to do and probably have many people want to join you.
~
Sorry I do not have any photos of the man actually burning – I only brought a disposable camera with me and it didn’t develop those photos. If you search online there are SO MANY amazing photographs that would blow your creative mind!
I hope you enjoy these snapshots though – there was so much to do and see!
Next up, I have a post focused on healing with oils – stay tuned because it has to do with traveling for all you jet-setters 😉
